1942 ... A grocer from Broom Place ended up in court for over charging on certain goods. Thomas Shephard was fined £5 on each summons of selling butter and lard at an over excessive price. He was also ordered to pay costs as well. Although Mr. Shephard had over 180 registered customers he still added on a farthing to the prices of butter and lard.
The two summons against his Wife were dropped under the Probation Act.
